I apply for a job I have a felony. I have been off parole since 1999. in job applications it usally says has there been any felony in the past 7 yrs I say no. Should I tell them I have one. Or is it one of there business?
When they do background check for jobs how long do they go back and what are they looking for?
background checks are used in almost all HR departments or businesses -they check for a criminal history, work history, %26amp; often a financial history. ask your future employer %26amp; never lie on the app or resume.
Reply:One has to be honest because it will still come back and burn you... they will find out either way. Usually on the background check it will show everything on a persons record unless it has been sealed. I would also call my former parole officer to inform myself further on situation. I am sure they will know...
Reply:if they do a background it will still show up... my hubby had a closed case (he was with a friend that stole somthing from a store when they were 15) but it still showed up....he's 44 now.
Depending what it was about it may be in your best interest to tell them.
Reply:don't get your hopes up, a felony is a serious crime and if they find it yo are screwed. tell them about it and maybe they might respect you honesty, but it is a seriously debilitating thing to have.
