Looking for jobs in my area of lawton oklahoma?

it is the best

Are graduates today are very choosy when looking for jobs?

Absolutely. Undergrads unfortunately are given this false hope once they graduate they will secure a position starting at 60K a year. Sorry sweetie. Unless you graduated from a top tier school unlikely to happen. Graduates (masters) whom I have interviewed as young as 25 have the same expectation (always about money.) Again sorry. Wonderful you have a degree, but where is the work experience? What grads fail to realize is school is merely a foundation that also gives you a better edge in securing employment. Work experience is something you will not learn during your studies and one should not expect to walk through the corporate doors expecting middle management salary. Leave the arrogance at the door.
Are graduates today are very choosy when looking for jobs?
nah mate ...im one example.....but still i cant get a part-time or fulltime job thats related to what i done at uni...im an accounting graduate....im in financial hardship and i would take whatever job offer comes first....

why are those bosses or recruitment agencies require experienced people to fill those entry-level jobs ? whos gona offer us entrylevel experience then ? dang it

im only after 25 k pa for my first fulltime
Reply:Depends on what their finances can afford. They don't have to take the first offer if they have money to live off of. But if the rent is do, choosy-ness diminishes.

I am looking for jobs with 14&14 DAYS ON/OFF SHCEDULES. ONLY THING I COULD FIND WERE OIL RIGS. PLEASE HELP?

Firemen work a schedule that's similar to that, but not exactly what you're looking for.
Reply:work 5 days a week like rest of us
Reply:seems like a strange criteria to have, if you are actually searching a job (although i suppose your question might be motivated from simply research as to what jobs have such schedules)

What are the best places in the US to look for jobs in computer security?

I'm wondering where the best states/cities for entry level computer security jobs are in the US. Does anyone know? If not, any ideas where I can find this information?
What are the best places in the US to look for jobs in computer security?
Computing Security is going to be a position or department of positions you would find in most major companies, unless it has been outsourced to a contractor like CSC, IBM, etc. So there are not going to be specific states or cities where you would find it more than other places other than large areas where there are corporate campuses.

Beware of unknown job offering sites, some are phony and all the want is your money. I think you should get in-touch with that country's embassy and see what they have to say. That will be your best bet, then you can take your next step. Or you could try one of the major oil companies "Overseas Dept" they might be able to help too. Good luck.

sorry for all the the other shitty answers you got so far.

I was in your position a while ago and hope I can give you some advice. There are basically four main things you can try to do.

a) Work for a charity. This will give you good exposure and they are usually happy to take ppl on board. Downside is they will only cover your cost (90 pounds travel card and 5pounds for lunch) I worked for a charity initially and found it ver interesting. look for something related to you studies! (what do you study)

b) apply for your 'home' companies in the UK. You didnt say where you are from but a second language always helps considering most English speak only one LoL.

c) If you are eligible for work in the UK various job sites that are available and always point out your language skills!

d) ask your uni or college .. they shud have a career centre and be able to help you.

PS: The more details you post in your question the easier it wud be to help you (where you are from/what you study/work experience/field of interest etc)
Reply:There are many online opportunities that can earn you money either full time or part time. Get paid to read emails, take surveys, start a online business etc.

Things you can claim for from the government whilst looking for job?

Was just having a conversation with someone, we want to know if anybody has claimed money back from the government for items they need for a job etc etc, and what they bought.

Thanks,

Daryl.
Things you can claim for from the government whilst looking for job?
The above answers are correct when you are in a job - i.e. you can claim expenses for tools which you will use in a job.

But not whilst you're looking for a job.

Which makes sense really because how do you know what things you are going to need in the job that you haven't got - if you see what I mean.

Depending on circumstances you can claim state benefits e.g. Unemployment, Job Seekers Allowance etc but that is a different issue (and website).

(UK).
Reply:You can only claim business expenses on your taxes. You can't get reimbursed directly from the government for things you buy.

if that were the case, the gov't would have to pay my college tuition since I needed that to get my job. But I could deduct my tuition from my taxes.
Reply:Some job expenses can be deducted from your income tax - uniforms, for example. Best to go to irs.gov for more info before making any purchases though.

If you want to make money from home instead of working in the hotel, . go for the internet business which requires less of your time and the one that will not make you feel headache with web designing, or which require IT knowledge. Second, choose the internet based company which offer you the opportunity and at the same time giving you the convenience to start the business. Third, choose the business, which does not require big money to start it.

Looking for business jobs in Rochester MN?

I know there is yahoo jobs, monster and the local paper, but are there any jobs in the area that might be undiscoved potential or someone thinking about posting a job. I want something to challenge me. I have a b.s and gone to graduate school for management. Looking for someone to give me a chance to show my potential and not get overshadowed by 26,000 other employees in rat maze where nobody cares. I'm willing to move if there is potential. Just tired of the same old paper pushing with no opportunity to have input or be creative.
Looking for business jobs in Rochester MN?
I have been to Rochester MN back in 2001, its very good city.

its 3rd biggest city in MN after Minneapolis and St.pual.

the worldest best and most famous hospital is located here -Mayo Clinic (kings, and presidents come to this hospital for check-ups)

The computer company plant of IBM is located here --IBM(international business machines) hires alot of business, engineers and assembly positions

Other then that --the city is clean, healthy and beautiful! good luck.

I am a subcontractor looking for small jobs?
The easiest way for you to find jobs is through referrals. Good help is tough to find. If you are very nice to your customers and do a good job, their friends and family will be begging you to do work for them. If you're really good and really nice, you can even charge a higher price because you'd be worth it.

How should anthropologists look for jobs?

I have just finished my MA in Anthropology and am having a difficult time finding a job. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? My focus was in cultural anthropology but I am trained in archaeology and biological as well. Thanks!
How should anthropologists look for jobs?
The problem with finding a job in the field of Anthropology is that it is difficult to make a career out of it unless you have a PhD. A lot of people with MAs in Anthro work at universities while they complete their dissertation.

Other than that, you can look into historical sites. I volunteered one summer at Montpelier in the archaeology department. As a lowly volunteer, I spent most of my time picking snail shells and burnt wood chips out of heaps of dirt, but the actual employees got to analyze the shells and wood chips. (They were trying to learn about the fire that destroyed Madison's parents' home.) I know that Monticello and Mt. Vernon also have anthro/archaeo departments. Essentially, check out any sites dealing with dead presidents or other important historical figures.

Another place you could look into is museums. Jobs at museums may be less than glamerous, but you'd still be able to to take part in what you love.

I knew an archaeologist who worked for the state of New York with the survey department. If the state was planning on putting a new road down or building a new building, it was his job too check out the site and make sure there was nothing historically important on that land that was going to be destroyed by the new construction. He seemed to have a great time at his job.

It is very hard to find a job in the field of Anthropology, especially without the PhD. It is even difficult finding a job outside the field with an anthro degree. In several interviews I have gone to, the potential employer will look over my resume and say, "So, your degree is in Anthropology?" "Yes," I respond. "That sounds very fascinating," the interviewer says. "Yessir. It is a very interesting field." Pause. "What exactly IS Anthropology?" And of course, even after I explain what it is, the interviewer still is not entirely sure what to make of it. The whole process is very frustrating, though still slightly amusing.

I wish you luck in your quest for employment in the field. Hopefully you have a much better time of it than I.
Reply:Two of the easiest ways are getting connected to a musuem or becoming a surveyor. Believe it or not...many historical sites have been found by surveyors that were making sure no building would be set on top of it.

You can being volunteer work for an archaeological firm, which acutally isn't that hard anymore. They are all over the country, especially if you are in any of the Native American populated areas. Almost anywhere in the southwest. OK, KS, are good places too. Because archaeology is becoming a bigger and more important field with each year...the number of firms opening up is growing. I work as a volunteer during the summer with the firm my anthro professor's firm.

Or you can become a researcher for a college. Like UCR, Boston, UCLA, Cal

In acutality...there are so many things that you can do with cultural anthropology. All it basically is is working and studying the behavior of people. Now, there is less you can do with archaeology...because it's all historical...but you shouldn't have that much of a problem finding something..

I am still working on my anthro BA, and want to get my MA. I have plans of joining the Peace Corps after I graduate. You can do something like that. Work for the United Nations or the Red Cross. UNICEF, UNHCR...there are so many committees that you can join and hook up with that you can do anthropological work in.
Reply:you dig and dig and dig... until you reach china :)
Reply:If you want an archaeology job, go to shovelbums.org and get on their mailing list. Also go to archaeologyfieldwork.com. It's spring, almost summer, and there are tons of listings. It's mostly CRM archaeology, both at the field tech and the supervisor levels, but there are often listings for permanent positions in CRM firms or governmental offices. There are even occasionally ones that aren't for archaeologists, but for similar fields.

Where can i look for jobs available to me upon recieving my degree?
First place you should check is the career advisement office of the school you are attending - they have multiple resources to help you prepare for a job search, and may have exclusive listings for which you can apply. Talk with some of your crimical justice professors to hear their recommendations. You can also start looking at your city and state web site, under the justice departments, and check for their job postings.

I am looking for felony friendly jobs in Grand Rapids, MI?

I'm trying to turn my life around; though, I have made some bad choices in the past Im a very good person, and have great potential. I need help with getting my life back on the right track.
I am looking for felony friendly jobs in Grand Rapids, MI?
Start from the ground up. As I'm sure you're aware, a lot of people are very stereotypical when it comes to people with felonies. Take what you can get at first, whether it be at a McDonald's or anything else, and begin to build up a better reputation. Reputations go far with people, so getting those good recommendations from multiple people who employed you SINCE you got a felony will make other employers in better jobs look at that, and not only the felony on your record.

Good luck! And I believe in you :)

What is the best website to look for jobs?
Get your resume and cover letter professionally done-they will get you your interview. You are better off doing research of places and fields you want to be in. Research a company, find out about them- then sell yourself. It does not matter if there are five others or five thousand others competing for the position-you have something that the others don't have-your unique talents and gifts.

The best national ones are Monster.com and Careerbuilder.com. Both are perfectly legit. They also have filters to protect against scams.

The jobs in the areas I am looking for on monster and careerbuilder, etc. are almost all through a recruiter, but my degree and my experience are in two completely different fields. I feel like my resumes keep getting dumped because I don't have the right degree or my experience is exactly what they are looking for. I can't even do follow-up calling to check on why. I need to find jobs that are directly listed. Please help!
What is the best way to look for jobs out of state that aren't being handled by a recruiter?
Do some research in the areas you are looking to relocate to. Find out the name of the local newspaper. Most newspapers have websites with local job listings. Also see what large companies are located in the areas you are interested in and find the company's website and send your resume directly to them.
Reply:I don't know what your background is, but sometimes the company's website itself will let you post your resume there. Then when they have an opening, they have a ready pool to draw from. I can't say they all use their applicant pool effectively, but one in my area does (I got called twice to interview for 2 different jobs). Plus they post their openings on their websites as well. There's no better way than directly.

The only hitch is, of course, you need to know what companies are in the area you are interested in. Plus I don't know if you want to go small or big....I think this suggestion is probably more relevant for bigger towns/cities or companies (more of a chance of getting hired though). But normally you can look through the newspaper (archives) business section or just search google and there are some lists out there of companies in the area.
Reply:Try going to each states website and most of them have one such as State of Texas.org and go to employment. Also I know that Burlington Northern Railroad is hiring all over the country. Go to their website as well. I can't remember if I found it by putting their name in my browser or in Google. Good luck on the job search!!!
Reply:The economy isn't much better here in central New Jersey. That means all the places I'm sending my resume (Philadelphia, New York) are in the crapper too. Granted, I'm looking for ANY entry level job in ANY feild, but unfortunately, even though I don't care what feild I work in, my BA is in Journalism. I know that it's hard to get a job in Journalism, but I have constantly written letters stating that I'm looking for any entry level job in any feild because I just want work experience to build my resume. I don't even get contacted from Temp/Employment agencies! I've called and contacted over 10 of them, but they haven't responded, probably in fear that they can't help. I've been very worried, as I've been looking for over a year now, and I'm buried in college debt. I sit down 3 days a week and send out at least a hundred applications/resumes all over NY, NJ, and PA from careerbuilder, varietycareers, monster, and several other job search engines. Not one business has called me back. I've only had 3 interviews in nearly 2 years. So I know what you mean! I think the internet is making it EXTREMELY difficult to find jobs because people can just apply to several jobs in 3 seconds using the copy and paste method, instead of looking in their local paper, taking time to print out their resume and cover letter on nice paper and physically send it in an envelope. Now businesses get flooded with hundreds of applications from all over the place. It SUCKS. Somethings gotta give. You can try going directly to certain businesses websites, and then searching their own job bank. Try calling any numbers listed on their website. Even that didn't work for me, so I currently have ONE temp/employment agency that was willing to help me. They gave me a ton of tests, and said they'd try to get me a job at a hospital that only pays 12 an hr. I probably sound like I'm complaining to you, but I just wanted you to know, the economy aint much better outside of where you are. It may actually get more competitive! Best of Luck, I really mean that...

Have you tried Careerbuilder.com or monster.com? They both have jobs for many cities.

Does the newspaper in Franktown have a web site that lists their classified ads?

Have you searched on Yahoo for Franktown jobs? I'm sure there are several lists that will help you.
Reply:Go On Moster.com or careerbuilder.com. They will let you type in the area you want to search for jobs in.

Just a heads-up I live in Denver so I am very familar with Colorado. I'm not sure you're going to find a whole lot of job opportunities in Franktown but Good Luck.

How can you start looking for job 6 months before graduation?

I'm an American and going to Australia in August on a work visa for a year through my University.

The thing is I don't have a job lined up and am looking for something right now. I don't know what to do. I mean how should I start approaching companies and things I should say in my cover letter.

Can you advice something? How can I have a job lined up in Real Estate before my arrival?

Thanks !
How can you start looking for job 6 months before graduation?
Doesn't your University have a career center or something? What office is this program through?

If your University is sponsoring this trip, they should have resources available for you or ideas on how to find a position. In reference to the actual question (how you can start looking for jobs before graduation), you look just as you would if you weren't working. Lots of newspapers have online editions, and you can see if the city you'll be in and the towns around it have the classifieds online.

Someone suggested Monster, but I don't think that Monster has an Aus site, so it seems to me that wouldn't be the best place to look (since Aus hiring managers won't use that resource if it's not going to reach the people they want).

Do research on real estate companies in the area you will be living in. Companies often put employment information on their website themselves. If there isn't anything listed, send a resume to them with a cover letter, and if they do have any openings or anticipate any, they may keep you in mind.

Out of all of this, though, you *must* go to your University's career center and/or the office that is sponsoring this program. They must have some sort of references, resources or ideas to help you find work once you get there.
Reply:put your resume' on Monster.com
Reply:I'd do some research on various real estate companies over in Australia and see if there is a possibility of getting sponsored.

Also, do some research on culturgrams (your college will probably have access) to ensure you are writing the letters in an appopriate way.

Many field tech support jobs can be home based. I'd figure out what I am most knowledgable in, then browse that company's web site and see if they have field positions open.

What kind of jobs can i get with three years as an infantry and a secret clearance? looking for jobs.?

There are many companies who will be willing to train you because it is easier to train somebody than it is to get a clearance for somebody who is trained.

Try www.clearancejobs.com

Another thing to consider is any position that requires you to pass a serious background check. Having a clearance will indicate to a potential employer that you will be able to pass such a check.

If there is a lot of aerospace near where you live - your clearance will give you an edge.

Another thing to consider is quasi-private security such as DOD police or VA police.

Wackenhut and Pinkerton Government Services always need people with clearances to provide security for classified materials. (And are willing to pay a premium for people with a clearance.)

When I retired I leveraged my clearance into a job managing the classified materials and security clearances for a small defense contractor.

There are many other positions available for people with clearances. Type the words: 'Security Clearance Jobs' into a search engine and you will find several job sites that specialize in positions that require security clearances.

Reply:Working for Blackwater Executive Protection Company(depending on the rank you held, and the SC rating)

US Defense Contractors(Army R%26amp;D)

Central Intelligence Agency(again despends upon the SC rating and your rank)

National Security Agency(SC rating and rank)

Federal Bureau of Investigation

ATF(SC rating and rank)

DEA(SC rating and rank)

Border Patrol(SC rating and rank)

NASA(SC rating)

Thats about all the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Good Luck!
Reply:A lot of union apprenticeships will hire you as an apprentice in the Trades and Construction. Try the web site called "helmets to hardhats. I got a lot of responses from them, when I first got back from Iraq. Grow your hair, go back to school, etc.
Reply:I would recommend going back to school, thats what I did and I was Infantry.

Any sort of law enforcement would be applicable to infantry if that is what you want to do. I couldnt be a cop because of some of my injuries so I went back to school.
Reply:I hear Wal Mart security is looking for M203 Grenadiers.

Just kidding, if you have the Montgomery GI bill, you could go to school. You can also post a resume on Military dot com too. You could also work on-line with Sologig or Go Freelance. Good luck.
