i am thinking of taking a semester off to work in Alberta i am in the hospitality and tourism program at Centennial College in Toronto ON, so i need a job where accommodation can be provided at a low cost... i just want to know if anyone knows of any good job websites i can look at...or what the jobs are like for auto mechanics.. my boyfriend is one and he was thinking of going our to alberta.. we hear there is good money to be made out there.
Looking for hospitality jobs in alberta?
They are tons of jobs in calgary. HRDC job bank, calgary herald classifieds, calgary sun classifieds. Or just call around and you might get hired due to labour shortage. The peak is over but it is still pretty good job wise. For a mechanics job apply by going through the phone book and looking for shops. As for cheap accommodations look through the calgary herald real estate rentals. You can rent after you get a job and before you come to calgary. Avoid NE calgary and most of the central SE. Like dover, forest lawn, marlborough, forest heights. They are the higher crime rate areas. Police pick up prostitutes and drop them off in forest lawn. FYI. Keep all your receipts for moving and disconnecting reconnecting phone, utilities, etc... because they are tax deductible. Keep all your receipts even if you think they are stupid. There are some funny deductions but you have to read the moving expenses and employment section in the income tax forms. Also over the past four years the people in calgary have become more rude/aggressive especially on th road. So be a good curtious driver.
