What are other good ways to look for jobs?

Other than the newspaper, and online?? If you mention headhunter, what exactly is a head hunter and where do I find one?

by the way, i have 1 year of work experience.. im ready to move on and find a PERMANENT job, and use my SKILL that I studied 4 years for, and I don't want anymore contract/intern jobs unless its just that necessary. I'm looking for something permanent. This city I am in does not seem to have what im looking for (except orlando and tampa).
What are other good ways to look for jobs?
A "head hunter" is someone who goes out an recruits professionals for a specific company and job...let's say John is a headhunter for Super Duper Computer Company...John will go out and find computer specialists from other companies and attempt to recruit them to his company...(or from Universities, intern programs, etc)...

Other than those you mentioned, the VERY best way to find a job is to KNOW someone...someone who can help you get a "foot in the door" to a company you want to work for. If your business contacts are lacking, then I would send out resumes to every company you are interested in...followed up a week later with a phone call...(to their HR department if it's a large company, or owner or manager if it's a small company)...to see if they got your resume and to try to set an interview appointment.

And remember, it's easier to get a job...while you HAVE a job...(dunno why really...but it's true)...so even if you have to take a job that may not be your ideal...you may get to know someone (a headhunter, perhaps??!!!) at another company...that can get you in the door to the career you WANT.
Reply:My best advice would be to GET OUT of the house. You've got to pound the pavement. That way you can meet people and network.

Reply:Hi,

You have a very clear career plan and you hardly require an expert to counsel you on finding the right job. Yet, you can checkout http://www.positionadvice.info for some useful info and tips. Good luck!
Reply:The best way is to get out there, fill out applications and call the companies you apply to back within 3 days to check up on the process. Just go and apply. Even if they're not hiring right then and there, your application will still be on file and you're still in the game. Newspapers will not always give you ALL of your options and on-line people hardly ever look at it. In person is and always will be the best.

Nothing is guaranteed in the job world sweetie... My mother just got let go from a job that she's been completely faithful to for 28 years!!! There's NO SUCH THING as a "permanent" position unless you start your own business and even then, it could go badly. You really just need to get out there and look for something. Even if it IS entry level, it's still better than nothing at all. Good luck!!

Is there a professional organization or association for the industry or type of job you are looking? If so there is where you want to network.

Have you identified the companies that have the kind of job that you are looking? If so there is where you want to apply and send your resume.

Good luck.

ECashOffers.com pays you to take free surveys. I made over $200 last month just doing free surveys. You'll never be asked to pay for anything!

The minimum payout is only $15, so that means you only have to earn $12 in order to receive a check. The site pays out monthly! Hope this helps some :)
Reply:tenicpearl has the right idea. The best way is by referrer. Ask your friends or relatives to see if there is anything opening up in their companies (there is always something opening up), and find one you like and apply. This is the best way to find a job: less competition and almost guaranteed an interview.
